Boston Braves
SPORTS FRANCHISE
Major league baseball team, established in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings. Renamed the Boston Beaneaters in 1883, Boston Doves in 1907, Boston Rustlers in 1911, and became the Boston Braves in 1912. Team played as the Boston Bees from 1936-40, then resumed the Braves nickname. National League champions in 1877, 1878, 1883, 1891, 1892, 1893, 1897, 1898, 1914, and 1948. World Series winners in 1914.
Relocated to become the Milwaukee Braves from 1953-65, and the Atlanta Braves since 1966.
