Expansion team entered the American League in 1961. Rebranded the California Angels midway through the 1965 season, as a precursor to the following season's relocation of the team from Los Angeles to suburban Anaheim. Renamed the Anaheim Angels from 1997-2004, and has played as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim since 2005.
