ABSTRACT
Bob Lee Swagger, a brilliant marksman hailing from a veritably patriotic American pedigree, lives a reclusive life in the rural Mountain West following a bungled military operation in Ethiopia some years ago. Asked to return to action at the urging of a lisping colonel upon learning of a credible plot to assassinate the President, Bob soon becomes the wanted "fall guy" in the ensuing chaos, charged with following a daredevil road back to his misbegotten days in Ethiopia if he is to uncover the real assassin and their motive for implicating him in the ordeal.
