Defiance (31-Dec-2008)

Director: Edward Zwick

Writers: Clayton Frohman; Edward Zwick

Based on a book: Defiance: The Bielski Partisans by Nechama Tec

Keywords: Drama, WWII, Nazis

In WWII Belarus (Soviet occupied Poland), three Polish brothers -- Tuvia, Zus, and Asael -- lead a group of Jewish refugees and partisans hiding in the Naliboki Forest. Their growing group turned no Jews away. Based on a true story, the film focuses on the relationship between Tuvia and Zus, giving Asael a less prominent role than he played in actual events.
