A morning show producer and hopeless romantic is placed through a series of tests by a chauvinistic correspondent.

ABSTRACT
Abby Richter, producer of a fledgling Sacramento, California morning show, is a stereotypical hopeless romantic, unable to find a partner meeting her ever-specific checklist of qualifications. An attempt by Abby's boss to reverse their show's unsatisfactory ratings sees the hiring of Mike Chadway, a provocative cable call-in host whose chauvinistic "ugly truth" theory of companionship -- namely, that relationships begin and end with physical attraction and sex -- sees Abby put through a series of arcane "tests" as she endeavors to win the heart of Colin, an attractive young doctor and next-door neighbor.
