From novel: Some Came Running by James Jones

Writer and now Army veteran Dave Hirsch returns from Chicago to his hometown of Parkman, Indiana, where his brother Frank introduces him to Gwen French, a respectable schoolteacher. Following him from chicago is Ginnie, a loose woman who has fallen in love with him. Adaptation of James Jones' lengthy and complex novel; probably some simplifications would have been appropriate.
