The Gallant Hours (13-Jun-1960)

Music Composed and Conducted by: Roger Wagner

Producer: Robert Montgomery

Keywords: Drama, WWII, Biography

Docudrama studying the leadership of William F. Halsey starting with his taking command of U.S. force in the South Pacific, to the victory at Guadalcanal. A unique war film with no battle scenes, Cagney's restrained performance seems accurate at first blush but it probably did not properly capture the man -- Halsey had quite a temper.
