That Thing You Do (14-Sep-1996)

Director: Tom Hanks

Writer: Tom Hanks

Score by: Howard Shore

Producers: Gary Goetzman; Jonathan Demme; Edward Saxon

Keywords: Comedy, Rock and Roll

Four young men from Erie, Pennsylvania form a rock band, the Oneders -- the band pronounces it "Wonders", but everyone else seems to want to say "Oh-need-ers." They replace their drummer and are signed by a record company, peaking on the Billboard charts at #7 with their catchy single That Thing You Do. Tom Hanks' directorial debut, and though he was only 8 years old in 1964 when the movie is set, all of the details are remarkably spot-on.
