REVIEWS Review by anonymous (posted on 29-Jan-2007) Beyond the Sea was a wonderful movie and I thought Kevin Spacey played Bobby Darin remarkably well. I too felt he was Bobby Darin. I believe that Spacey didn't get enough credit when the movie was first made. It didn't even come to our theatre where I live. His portrayal was magnificent. The love scenes with Kate were so romantic and wonderful too. and I watch and watch the movie over & over again Spacey's singing and dancing and directing and producting were wonderful. I have the DVD and the soundtrack and when I play the soundtrack my husband actually thinks that it is Bobby Darin singing when I play it. I think Spacey is a wonderful actor and has a charming sex appeal and I love to watch his movies; but I think Beyond the Sea was the best!! I wish he'd make some cd's of his singing some of Darin's other songs, as a matter of fact I wish he would make more vocals of a lot of the 60's music. I think that because Spacey's mother was such a Darin fan the movie may have been a work of love in her memory. That's just my thought, the movie is magnetic for me and I love to watch it! I can't get enough of it,
Review by Carol G. Hanlon (posted on 21-Mar-2005) I have just seen Beyond the Sea for the second time and could see it again and again. Kevin Spacey is sensational! His direction and acting abilities are astounding. I felt like I was seeing Bobby Darin on stage again. Mr. Spacey's voice is wonderful and his portrayal of Bobby Darin should have received much more attention than it got when the film originally came out. Perhaps the film title could have been different. At any rate, I give this 4 Stars!<
