Gene Kelly plays an American GI staying in Paris after the war, who tries his hand at painting. An older American woman will sponsor his painting but really wants romance (he's a terrible painter); Kelly falls for a different girl, played by Leslie Caron in her film debut. Film was created as a scaffold to hang Gershwin numbers on. Winner of 6 Oscars including Best Picture and Best Music Score, nominated for 2 additional.
