Friday Night Lights (6-Oct-2004)

Director: Peter Berg

Writers: David Aaron Cohen; Peter Berg

Based on a book: Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream by H. G. Bissinger

Producer: Brian Grazer

Keywords: Sports Drama, Football

Film adaptation of the 1990 book of the same name follows a hard-up Texas small town's embrace of their standout high school football squad.

ABSTRACT
The scene: Odessa, Texas, an economically-depressed backwater Southern town, in 1988. A community split along political and racial lines comes together over the time-worn institution of American football, finding solace in local Permian High School's unlikely run towards the Texas state championship. Well received by critics and at the box office, Friday Night Lights would go on to spawn an NBC television series of the same name.
