Operation Petticoat (5-Dec-1959)

Director: Blake Edwards

Writers: Paul King; Joseph Stone; Stanley Shapiro; Maurice Richlin

Keywords: Comedy, Submarine

The USS Sea Tiger, a damaged submarine berthed in the Philippines, limps back to Pearl Harbor for repairs soon after the start of World War II. Along the way it picks up a pink paint job, a bevy of nurses, and manages to sink a truck. Tony Curtis as Nick Holden, procurement and pilfering officer, is added to the crew at the last minute. Light dated comedy but overall still funny. Received an Oscar nomination for Best Screenplay.
