Hercules, son of Zeus and Hera, is captured by Hades on the day of his birth and made mortal but with full retention of his superhuman strength; he is raised by humans. After visiting the temple of Zeus, Hercules becomes aware of his bloodline and wishes reunion with his parents and reclamation of his birthright. Disney has significantly altered the mythology in order to become child-friendly.
