The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (Jan-1969)

Director: Ronald Neame

Writer: Jay Presson Allen

From novel: The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark

From a play by: Jay Presson Allen

Keywords: Drama

Miss Jean Brodie is a teacher at the elite Marcia Blaine Girls School in Edinburgh in 1936; her intent is to inspire more than it is to teach. Miss Brodie's political sympathies tend toward the fascist, extending admiration to Mussolini and Generalissimo Franco. Her free spirit does not endear herself to the schools administration. Maggie Smith won Best Actress Oscar; film was also nominated for Best Original Song.
