After some experience in theatre and television, Brittany Murphy's first significant role was Brenda Drexell in the Fox sitcom Drexell's Class, playing one of two teenage daughters of quirky teacher Otis Drexell. From there she dabbled in television and moved on to the big screen, starring in such films as Clueless (1995), Girl, Interrupted (1999), and Happy Feet (2006). With music producer Paul Oakenfold she released a 2006 single, "Faster Kill Pussycat", which reached #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play Chart. Her career was still strong when at the young age of 32 she was pronounced dead from pneumonia, having been found unconscious in her shower at her Los Angeles home.
