The company went bankrupt in 1982, Laker claiming that other airlines were pressuring Douglas Aircraft (the manufacturer of most of Laker's planes) to not help refinance the airline. The claims were true, with Laker's creditors receiving settlements. A new incarnation of Laker Airways returned to operate Florida/Britain flights in 1995-2004.
