Crosby who felt stifled in the role and wanted out at the end of the first season, so her character was killed in action by alien-inflicted head trauma. Crosby later returned to the Star Trek universe to play Tasha Yar's daughter, Romulan Commander Sela, and produced two documentaries about Star Trek fandom, Trekkies and Trekkies 2.
Crosby was born out of wedlock, and her mother had to sue her father to establish paternity. The lawsuit took three years, and Crosby's mother won only $100 per week in child support. When she was an infant, her father married a Las Vegas showgirl, who two years earlier had reportedly slept with grandfather Bing Crosby. Crosby never met his granddaughter. She was 19 when he died.
Crosby was married to Geoffrey Edwards, son of director Blake Edwards and stepson of Julie Andrews. She made her film debut at 21 in Edwards' 10, and her best-known film is Stephen King's Pet Sematary. Superior among her film work was the little-seen doomsday drama, Miracle Mile, with Anthony Edwards and Mare Winningham.
