[1] Born on the night of July 9th-10th, around midnight. It is not known with any certainty which of the two days he was actually born on. Numerous sources cite either date. Margaret Cheney, Man Out of Time (2001), claims on page 25, "precisely midnight." Cheney also writes in an earlier work, Tesla, Master of Lightning (1999, with Robert Uth), states on page 3, "His birthday was always observed on the tenth."
