In her public appearances, Lady Gaga aims for the outrageous. She has been known to dress in plastic bubbles, wear what appears to be a bird's nest around her head, and cavort about in naughty gossamer fabric thin enough to expose her aureoles. At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Gaga gave a blood-spattered live performance of Paparazzi, which would have captured the headlines had Kanye West not usurped the microphone from Taylor Swift at the same ceremony.
