Executive summary: Lucas Scott on One Tree Hill His mother left the family when Murray was 10, leaving his father with four boys and one girl. Murray says he was a nerd, and was routinely bullied in school. He was born with a short mesentery, which attaches the intestines to the abdomen wall. His intestines became twisted in high school, and much of his small intestine was surgically removed. Murray was hospitalized for almost two months, eating no solid food. In the hospital, he met a nurse who suggested he try modeling.
He found some modeling work in his home town of Buffalo, and eventually moved to Los Angeles, where he became a Tiger Beat coverboy appearing in recurring roles on Dawson's Creek and Gilmore Girls. Since 2003, he has played Lucas Scott on the WB's One Tree Hill. In the movies, he has enchanted Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis in Freaky Friday and Hilary Duff in A Cinderella Story.
