Challenged the constitutionality of 1974 political campaign spending limits in Buckley v. Valeo. The Supreme Court sided with Buckley. After losing his Senate seat, Buckley ran for another one, this time in Connecticut. He lost. Later Ronald Reagan appointed him to the federal bench.
