Greer was "sort of a hippie" in high school, and appeared in school plays. She studied theater at DePaul University, and landed her first screen role just days after graduation, a small part in the David Schwimmer comedy Kissing A Fool. She flew to Hollywood for the film's premiere, and decided to stay.
On TV, she played the airhead sister on a short-lived 1999 sitcom, Love & Money, and the nutty secretary on Arrested Development. In films she has played "best friend" roles in The Wedding Planner and to 13 Going On 30. She played a suicidal file clerk in What Women Want, and the gun-toting sidekick to a Jewish action hero in The Hebrew Hammer. In more dramatic turns, she played a reporter in Three Kings, a waitress who became the object of Nicolas Cage's obsession in Adaptation, and the firstborn child in M. Night Shyamalan's The Village.
