When Anderson was a teenager, his stepfather literally put a padlock on the refrigerator, to keep Anderson and his friends from eating all the family's food.
In July 2004, while Anderson was filming Hustle and Flow in Tennessee, he was charged with aggravated rape. A passerby, hearing screams coming from Anderson's trailer, opened the door, and a naked woman ran out of his trailer. The woman claimed that Anderson assaulted her and took pictures of her while she was nude. Three months later, the charges were dismissed. Another woman (identified only as "Jane Doe") has sued, alleging that she was raped by Anderson in September 2003, when she auditioned as an extra for his sitcom.
