Though he died young, Clarke is one of the most influential archaeologists of the 20th century, and certainly the most underappreciated. He merged techniques from outside disciplines into his study, bringing new scientific rigor to the field. Among his many innovations were increased use of spatial information, computer models, and statistical analyses.
