Venture capital firm focused on high technology. Founded 1946 by Georges Doriot with an initial investment fund of $3.5M. In 1957, ARD made the initial investment $75K in Digital Equipment Corporation; after its IPO a decade later, the investment was worth some $80M (in 1971 dollars). Merged with Textron in 1972. Alumni from the firm founded Greylock Partners and Fidelity Ventures.
