Tora! Tora! Tora! (23-Sep-1970)

Directors: Richard Fleischer; Toshio Masuda; Kinji Fukasaku

Writers: Larry Forrester; Hideo Oguni; Ryuzo Kikushima

Based on a book: Tora! Tora! Tora! by Gordon W. Prange; The Broken Seal by Ladislas Farago

Music: Jerry Goldsmith

Producer: Elmo Williams

Keywords: Action/Adventure, WWII

The 1941 surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, dramatized by both sides evenhandedly. Unusual among war films, the reasons for Japan's attack, entirely logical and sensible, are covered in some depth. Likewise, we see the American intelligence failure to properly communicate the impending signs to field commanders. Spectacular recreation of the attack itself. Won Oscar for Best Special Visual Effects; received 4 additional nominations including Best Cinematography.
