A female senator tapped to succeed the recently-deceased Vice President in office endures a disquieting attack on her personal history.

The Vice President passes away without warning, placing the spotlight on President Jackson Evans as he prepares to nominate his successor. Popular senator Jack Hathaway, the expected choice, is passed over in favor of colleague Laine Hanson; a Republican-turned-Democrat who would be the first female Vice President, she is made the target of a character assassination orchestrated by Beltway insider Shelly Runyon, having her sexual history exposed to the public in an attempt to prevent her ascension to the second-highest office in the land. Nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor.
