"The Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association comprises equipment manufacturers, wellsite service companies and supply companies serving the drilling and production segments of the petroleum industry. Founded in 1933 as the American Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association, its role then was to assist the federal government in preparing a fair practice code for the oilfield equipment industry." Organization changed to present name in 1938.
