After a lengthy but unnoticed career on Broadway, suddenly appeared in a large number of movies between 1931-33. A stroke in 1934 ended his career; he died the following year. Landau left his estate of $3803 to one Delight Howell, his "best friend", to the apparent exclusion of actress Mrs. Frances Landau, who though separated claimed to be his current legal wife.[1]
