Roger B. Myerson shared the 2007 Nobel Prize in Economics with Leonid Hurwicz and Eric Maskin, for their studies of mechanism design theory, which helps explain decision-making procedures involved in economic transactions. He has written extensively on the models, concepts, results, and methodological principles of game theory, and on risk aversion, contingent claims, and risk sharing. He has also written occasional political commentary, and observed before the 2003 US attack on Iraq that "going to war with no restraints is dangerous".
