FMC
COMPANY
Founded 1883 by John Bean as the Bean Spray Pump Company. It acquired several other companies and in 1928 changed name to Food Machinery Corporation. In 1946 this was extended to be Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation, and in 1961, FMC Corporation. In order to focus on chemicals, FMC has spun off parts of itself -- United Defense in 1994 (now part of British behemoth BAE Systems) and FMC Technologies in 2000/01.
