Morehouse College
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
Historically Black college founded in 1867 by Rev. Frank Quarles as the Augusta Institute in Augusta, Georgia; it relocated to Atlanta in 1879 to become the Atlanta Baptist Seminary. It changed name to Atlanta Baptist College in 1897 and again to Morehouse College in 1906, to honor Henry Lyman Morehouse.
