I feel that this is a very real depiction of how cults trap their converts. It is frightening to think that a person can be so brainwashed as to believe that a mere man can become god to others. The transformation of Mancuso from a man who has lost the love of his life into a robot doing the bidding of his "father" is nothing short of tremendous. The un-brainwashing events show just how far someone can go down and how hard it is to retrieve them back from the brink of despair. The family and friends devotion and love overcome and good wins. However, that isn't always the case.
