After global war, a community of isolated humans live in a sealed ecosystem where lifespan is limited to 30 years. Those who try to escape are vilified and terminated as "runners" by elite Sandmen. The city computer assigns Sandman Logan 5 to follow a runner and find the supposed destination of all runners, "Sancutary." Landmark science fiction film, though overshadowed the following year by the release of Star Wars.
