Cofounded the political consulting firm Carville & Begala in 1984 with a handshake. Worked as a speechwriter for Congressman Dick Gephardt 1987-91, where he met George Stephanopoulos. Begala, Carville, and Stephanopoulos formed the nucleus of then-governor Bill Clinton's 1992 Presidential campaign staff. After Clinton won, Begala served as a counselor to the President. Today he cohosts CNN's Crossfire program.
