Left Hungary during the 1956 revolution to live in Queens, New York. At Forest Hills High School he met Johnny Ramone and together they formed The Tangerine Puppets, and in 1974 The Ramones. Tommy was manager and producer, but coerced Joey into being lead singer, leaving the drums unoccupied. Thus began Tommy's career as drummer. After leaving the band in 1977 he morphed into a record producer and bluegrass musician.
