Steve BartmanBorn: c. 1977
Birthplace: Chicago, IL

Gender: Male
Race or Ethnicity: White
Occupation: Victim

Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Cubs fan, grasped for wrong baseball

A Chicago Cubs fan, Bartman reached for and tried to catch a foul ball that might have been caught by outfielder Moisés Alou. Alou expressed fury in the immediate aftermath. Bartman was sitting in aisle 4, row 8, seat 113. Some speculate this interference cost the Cubs a chance at the World Series. Game officials ruled the incident not to be interference, as the ball was out of play at the time. Most independent observers agree that the Cubs would have lost the game no matter the outcome of this play.
