Executive summary: Son of Ronald Reagan Ron Reagan is the liberal, atheist son of actor and President Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan. Reagan dropped out of Yale to become a ballet dancer, a move widely reported as embarrassing to his father. His parents rarely if ever came to see him dance with the Joffrey Ballet, but Reagan remembers that when he first told his father he wanted to be a dancer, the elder Reagan's immediate response was to telephone Gene Kelly, a family friend, to ask for his recommendations on good dance schools.
Reagan hosted Saturday Night Live midway through his father's second term as President, and in one funny skit he parodied Tom Cruise in Risky Business by dancing in his underwear in the White House while his parents were away. His parents, watching on television, reportedly had no idea who Cruise was, and didn't get the joke until it was explained to them.
Reagan now works as a political correspondent for MSNBC, and covers dog shows for Animal Planet. He is married to a psychologist, lives in Seattle, and dropped the "junior" from his name in the mid-1990s.
