| Cary Elwes AKA Ivan Simon Cary Elwes
Born: 26-Oct-1962 Birthplace: London, England
Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Actor Nationality: United States Executive summary: The Princess Bride Cary Elwes is capable of decent performances when the part calls for earnest or evil. He was perfect as the fairy tale hero Westley in The Princess Bride, rescuing his Buttercup (Robin Wright). He played Tom Cruise's race-car driver nemesis in Days of Thunder, and appeared in the military farce Hot Shots! with Charlie Sheen. He has also delivered enough wooden performances to go into the lumber business. He was particularly silly as an abducted doctor in Saw, as a weather-chaser in Twister, and as a journalist stalked and seduced by a 14-year-old girl in The Crush.
One of Elwes' brothers is a Hollywood B-moviemaker, and produced Oxford Blues, one of Elwes' first films. His other brother is an artist who was briefly married to actress Catherine Oxenberg. Their father, portrait painter Dominic Elwes, was portrayed by Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Anthony Head in a 1994 TV-movie for BBC, The Trial of Lord Lucan.
Elwes now lives in Malibu, and is an activist for Native American rights. Father: Dominic Elwes (painter, d.
