EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION

Founded in 1778 by Samuel Phillips, Jr., whose uncle John Phillips later founded Phillips Exeter Academy. Boston silversmith Paul Revere designed the school's seal, and John Hancock signed its Act of Incorporation. Merged with the adjacent girls' school Abbot Academy in 1973.
